Former Yankees manager and current Radio.com Insider, Joe Girardi joined the Scott & Jeremy Show today.

Joe spent many games facing David Ortiz during his time as Yankee manager and he commented on the shooting incident involving "Big Papi" in the Dominican Republic this weekend. "He was an incredible embassador for the game. He was very important to the healing in Boston that took place after the bombing at the marathon and he does so much great work outside and off the field for kids that need help...Obviously we're all hoping he has a full recovery. It's scary. It's the world we live in and it's scary."

Homeruns have been flying out of ballparks at a record rate this season. Joe said that he thinks that we are "devaluing" the significance of a homerun when it comes to setting records. He also joked, "I think the ball is on steroids".

Girardi talked about the Orioles selection of Adley Rutschman. Like many other baseball minds, he thinks Rutschman has a bright future in the major leagues. Joe also had strong opinions about Joe Musgrove, Clint Hurdle and Josh Donaldson getting ejected last night in the Pirates-Braves game.
