BALTIMORE -- Last night, the Orioles made a few moves before the start of their three-game home series against the White Sox.  The Orioles optioned center fielder Cedric Mullins to AAA Norfolk and selected the contract of infielder Stevie Wilkerson this afternoon.  In order to make room for Wilkerson, the Orioles designated right-handed pitcher Josh Lucas for assignment.  Wilkerson played left field, Joey Rickard in center, and Trey Mancini at right field.

David Hess was able to get through the first two innings without anyone hitting a base.  It was not until the fifth inning that a score came on the board and the White Sox were up because of three-run homer by White Sox catcher James McCann.  The Orioles were also able to get on the board in the fifth by an RBI double by Mancini.

Gabriel Ynoa who was selected from Triple-A Norfolk after Mike Wright was designated for assignment, came into pitch the sixth inning.  Tanner Scott came in to pitch for the seventh inning recording four hits, two earned runs, and two strike outs.  The White Sox were now leading 6-1.  After only throwing 24 pitches, Miguel Castro was called to the mound to finish out the seventh inning.  A few strikes and three wild pitches later, Castro was called off the mound was replaced by Jimmy Yacabonis.  Yacabonis cames in with two man on and only one out.  A fly out to center field was what finally concluded the inning that felt like would never end.  However, Yacabonis was not the closer for the Orioles.  Jesus Sucre came to the mound in the ninth inning for the Orioles.   It was three up and three down for Sucre whose pitches were only recording between 65-69 mph.  Orioles were able to get on the board one more time by Pedro Severino who gave the Orioles another run with a homerun in the 9th inning. Orioles fell to Chicago 12-2, and are now 1-10 at home. Orioles play their second game of the series tonight with Andrew Cashner at the mound.
