Pitchers and catchers reported to Sarasota, Florida this week, signaling the start of Spring Training for the Baltimore Orioles.

It's a fresh start following a franchise-worst 47-115 season in 2018 and the Orioles have new leadership under General Manager Mike Elias and skipper Brandon Hyde.

Hyde joined 105.7's The Big Bad Morning Show on Thursday morning and spoke about his early impressions of Spring Training during his first go-around as a manager.

Hyde said the Orioles' objective during this important offseason is to compete on a daily basis in practice and games. The Grapefruit league kicks off in just over one week as the Orioles face the Minnesota Twins on Febuary 23rd.

Hyde also added that the Orioles currently do not have any intersqaud games schueled and those will depend on the health of the roster.

Most importantly, Hyde emphasized maintaining a positive clubhouse. There are plenty of new faces around the organization in terms of players, coaches and management. Hyde said he wants players to be themselves and feel comfortable throughout the process – which includes relying on veteran leaders, especially with a young ball club.
