Ravens backup kicker Kaare Vedvik turned heads this summer as his leg was in full display. In the Ravens 29-0 victory over the Jaguars, Vedvik nailed four field goals from 55, 45, 26, and 29 yards respectively.

After an impressive preseason debut, Vedvik’s trade value skyrocketed for teams in desperate need for a starting kicker.

Of course the ravens already possess the league’s best kicker in Justin Tucker. Trading Vedvik became only a matter of time, but the asking price was uncertain.

The Ravens decided to trade Vedvik to the Vikings for a 2020 fifth-round pick.

Vedvik’s potential has been tremendous since his days at Marshall. As a punter, Vedvik smashed a 92-yard punt which was the seventh-longest in FBS history.

A similar scenario regarding Vedvik’s trade value occurred last offseason as the 23-year old kicker was turning heads. However Vedvik was involved in a life-threatening assault that sidelined him for much of the 2018 season.

With Vedvik in the NFC North, the Ravens have added a fifth-round pick for simply doing their due diligence. Baltimore didn’t need another kicker yet decided to sign the undrafted Vedvik last season. A year later, the Ravens investment panned out and another kicker from the Ravens system will become an NFL starter.
