Ravens Sign LB Shane Ray

Just a day after adding edge rusher Pernell McPhee, the Ravens have made another signing.

Ray, 25, is a former first round pick who has shown great promise in his four-year career.

In his first two seasons as a pro, Ray tallied 12 sacks and a forced fumble. Injuries derailed the past two seasons, as Ray has missed 13 games.

Before his nagging wrist injuries, Ray showed tremendous persistence on rushing the quarterback. The Broncos declined his fifth-year option, making Ray an unrestricted free agent.

The former SEC Defensive Player of the Year provides potential to Baltimore. The Ravens desperately needed to fill the void left behind by Terrell Suggs and Za’Darius Smith in the pass rush.

For Ray, the goal is to remain healthy and let the talent speak for itself. For Baltimore, the hope is to bring in talent that can play a full season. Time will tell, though the adding of Ray makes Baltimore better today.
