Ravens Not Practicing During Bye Week

As small as this point seems, the loss against the Steelers made it clear that the Ravens needed more practice.

The run game proved nonexistent, as Alex Collins led with a measly 35 yards. Quarterback Joe Flacco threw for just 206 yards, while not registering a touchdown pass. The Ravens defense surrendered more than 400 yards of total offense.

And they are not practicing?

According to ESPN, coach Harbaugh made a statement regarding his decision to give the players the week to rest.

“I know that we’re better off resting at this point, “I think our guys have been hard at work, at it through a long training camp, and it will be good for us to get an opportunity to get off our feet and get our legs back. So I’m looking forward to that.”

While injuries have belittled the Ravens success the past month, some players clearly need more reps. Flacco needs to be sharper and more aggressive, while the run game needs to step up.

At the very least, the players need to be watching film since their next opponent, the Bengals, defeated them 34-23 in Week 2.

If the Ravens won the game against the Steelers on Sunday, a week of rest would be more defendable. The Ravens are just 1-3 in division play this season. They will need to win the remaining two games to keep up pace in the AFC playoff race.

That starts with Cincinnati in two Sundays and the more practice and preparation the Ravens have, the better.
