The Orioles defeated the Mets 2-1 Tuesday night down in Flushing.

Alex Cobb pitched a gem, allowing just two hits and one earned run in six innings. Cobb also struck out seven batters in route to his second win on the season.

Baltimore started the game with hot bats as Manny Machado it an RBI single to give the Orioles a 1-0 lead. A sacrifice fly by Danny Valencia pushed the O’s lead to 2-0 after one inning. Rookie catcher Austin Wynns collected his first major league hit as his family watched on in the stands. After a kiss from his mother, it appeared the moment was all the momentum Baltimore needed to hold on to the victory.

Cobb was dealing through four innings yet ran in to some trouble in the fifth inning.

With runners on second and third with no one out, Cobb limited the damage allowing just a sacrifice fly from Jose Bautista which cut the lead to 2-1.

Mychal Givens came in for relief in the seventh inning and shut down the Mets bats. The bullpen allowed just one hit over three innings as the O’s secured the win.

The Orioles (18-41) have one more game against the Mets Tuesday afternoon before heading to Toronto for a four-game set.
