O’s Get Royal Beatdown

It was a night to forget for Dylan Bundy and the Orioles.

Baltimore were crushed 15-7 by the Kansas City Royals Tuesday night in Camden Yards.

Bundy appeared to be pitching batting practice, as the Royals went yard four times in the first inning. The first punch was from Jorge Soler, who rocked a two-run home run to make the score 2-0. The next two batters, Mike Moustakas and Salvador Perez, connected on solo homeruns respectively to increase the lead to 4-0.

The night continued to get worse as Bundy walked the next two batters and faced off with Alex Gordon. Gordon took Bundy deep for a three-run homer, the 4th of the inning, bringing the lead to 7-0.  Manager Buck Showalter removed Bundy from the game, who allowed seven runs while not recording an out.

Mike Wright Jr. came in to the game as damage control, yet there was still destruction to be done. The Royals loaded the bases as Moustakas was up to bat for the second time in the inning. A two-run single brought the score to 9-0 and after Perez’s sacrifice fly, the O’s trailed 10-0 after just the first inning.

The deficit was too much as Baltimore would go on to lose 15-7, allowing 20 hits to Kansas City. At just 8-27, the Orioles are in an unimaginable hole.

Another devastating loss has many asking for a rebuild in Baltimore, and that starts with the potential moving of star Manny Machado, who is set to be a free agent next offseason. A team this poor can’t lose Machado for nothing. The question is, will they?
