Orioles pitcher Alex Cobb went just two innings, leaving the game with a blister on his pitching hand. The short start led to Mike Wright Jr. coming in, in which he allowed three earned runs en route to a 3-2 loss to Oakland.

Matt Chapman rocketed an RBI double to give the A’s a 1-0 lead. MVP candidate Khris Davis followed with an RBI single, scoring Chapman. Another RBI single by Stephen Piscotty gave Oakland a 3-0 lead.

The Orioles fought back as Jonathan Villar smacked a solo homerun in the 6th inning.

Villar added another RBI on a single in the 8th inning, cutting the deficit to 3-2.

A’s closer Jeurys Familia came on to close and notched his 18th save on the season.

Baltimore has now lost five straight games and host the A’s for two more games. The A’s (88-57) are looking to cut their deficit in both the AL West as well as the Wild Card hunt.
