The Mike Elias era has officially begun.

With the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft, the Baltimore Orioles selected Oregon State catcher Adley Rutschman.

There were rumblings that the Orioles would pass on Rutschman, but Elias and Sig Medal didn't get cute. They selected the consensus top overall pick in the draft.

Rutschman batted .418 at the plate with 17 home runs and 58 RBIs with the Beavers during his junior season. Oregon State's College World Series campaign ended in disappointing fashion, but Rutschman was intentionally walked with the bases loaded in a game against Cincinnati.

That's the kind of presence he brings to plate.

Rutschman is an immediate impact player who likely won't last long in the minor leagues. Even at 21-years-old, fans will be eager to see him at Camden Yards within the coming years.

Rutschman is now the face of the Orioles franchise and that's not an understatement.
