After being placed on the 7-day injured list for a sore quad, Yusniel Diaz was recalled back to Double-A Bowie Monday.

More than a year ago, Diaz was the top prospect acquired by Baltimore in the Manny Machado trade.

The 6’1 outfielder from Cuba struggled in his adjustment to the Orioles Double A team, the Bowie Baysox. Diaz batted .239 and struck out 28 times in just 38 games.

In 2019, he has increased his batting average and has ripped 10 homers along with 51 RBI.

Diaz enjoyed a tremendous July, as he produced a .299/.353/.514 slash line and totaled 22 RBIs.

In his return on Monday, Diaz went 1-3 in a 4-2 loss to the Reading Fighting Phils.
