Ravens legend Terrell Suggs returned back to Arizona, where he played college football for the Arizona State Sun Devils.

And although Suggs left the only professional franchise he ever suited up for this offseason, he had a reason.

According to linebacker Bart Scott, Suggs talked to his former teammate before making his decision to leave Baltimore.

Scott played with Suggs from 2003-2008, as well as in 2011. The two linebackers are still close friends and Scott was able to give us some more context on Suggs’ departure.

Suggs may not view himself worth $7 million, but he has remained productive in Arizona. In nine games, Suggs has recorded five sacks and leads the team with four forced fumbles and six tackles for loss.

No defender for the Ravens has more than four sacks (Judon) or more than two forced fumbles (Humphrey).

When the situation gets boiled down, Suggs left due to the league being a business. Though he didn’t view himself as a $7 million player, that’s what the market demanded.

It’s still odd seeing Suggs in a new uniform, but it may be even more peculiar not seeing Suggs in the playoff this season. The Cardinals (3-5-1) are dead last in the NFC West behind an undefeated 49er team. As for the Ravens, they will look to expand their two game lead in the AFC North this Sunday when they host the undefeated Patriots.
