The Orioles have added an expeirenced infield defender to a bottom-third defense a season ago.

Iglesias, 30, is known for his defensive prowess at shortsop. According to Fangraphs, he ranked 7th in overall defense, 7th in ultimate zone rating, and 9th in defensive runs saved for all qualifying shortstops in 2019.

The 30-year old shortstop batted .288 with the Reds in 2019, while raking 21 doubles and 59 RBI.

Iglesias is a signigicant signing  for the Orioles after the depature of infielder Jonathan Villar. Iglesias will sure up the infield and provide stability, particularly as a veteran player in a young, rebuilding dugout.

The Orioles will also have flexibility to further develop shortstop Richie Martin, who struggled after his call up last March.
