Mark Turgeon and the Maryland Terrapins are dancing for the fourth time in five years. Maryland landed the No. 6 seed in the East Region and await the winner of Belmont and Temple.

They’ll play their opening game on Thursday, March 21st at 3:10 p.m. in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Terps finished 22-10, (13-7) on the season. They were knocked out of the Big 10 tournament in disappointing fashion following a 69-61 loss to Nebraska, but the NCAA tournament offers a clean slate for all 68 teams.

This is March and as we know, anything can happen.

Maryland’s last tournament appearance (2017) ended with an upset loss to Xavier. The year prior, Turgeon's Terps posted their best showing, reaching the Sweet Sixteen before a 79-63 loss to Kansas.

Given their struggles to end the season, Maryland faces a tough challenge against either Temple or Belmont. The Owls finished 3rd in the American Athletic Conference this season at 23-9.

Belmont deservedly made the tournament despite being a mid-major team and not winning their conference championship. The Bruins, coached by Rick Byrd, finished 26-5 and are a team that shouldn't be overlooked.

Make no mistake about it, Maryland is talented enough to make a run in the tournament. Led by Bruno Fernando, Anthony Cowan and a wealth of young talent, the Terps showed that potential this season.

But on the flip side, they are also a heavy favorite to get upset in the first round.

There are a lot of questions with this team and they’ll surely be answered come Thursday.
