One day after the University of Maryland Board of Regents decided to reinstate football head coach D.J. Durkin, he’s been fired.

The decision followed with a bulk of outrage as fans, media members and players, and most notably McNair’s family, expressed their displeasures

In August, strength and conditioning coach Rick Court, Durkin’s supposed right-hand-man, reached a settlement with the University to part ways. His head former coach now follows him.

Durkin led the Terripans a 10-15 record in two full seasons. The Terps finished with a 6-7 record in 2016 but fell to Boston College in the Quick Lane Bowl.

Under the guidance of interim head coach Matt Canada this season, Maryland is 5-3 with a chance to become bowl eligible with a Saturday afternoon home matchup against Michigan State.
