Baltimore Ravens’ rookie linebacker Kenny Young will be getting an MRI on his left knee after suffering an injury in the first half of the team’s preseason finale last night.

Young described the injury as ‘minor,’ per Jamison Hensley.

The fifth-round pick competed against Patrick Onwuasor this offseason for the starting inside linebacker spot alongside Pro Bowler C.J. Mosley. Young was thoroughly impressive against the run and lined up in pass coverage, totaling 23 tackles in five games.

The Ravens will hope Young’s injury is only minor. Cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste is likely out for the entire 2018 season after suffering a broken arm. The final stretch of the preseason has been rough to the Ravens and they’ve struggled to avoid the injury bug.

Inside linebacker is currently one of the thinnest positions on the roster for the Ravens and Young’s injury status makes roster math that much more difficult heading into cut time on Saturday afternoon. Undrafted linebacker Chris Board has been a preseason stud and has made a strong case to make the 53-man roster. The Ravens aren’t afraid to roll with young players at the position, given the recent success of Zach Orr and Onwuasor.
