Baltimore Ravens linebacker C.J. Mosley exited the first quarter of Thursday night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals with an apparent knee injury.

The Ravens reported during the game that Mosley was doubtful to return with a bone bruise and following the 34-23 loss, head coach John Harbaugh provided an update on three-time Pro Bowler.

Per Harbaugh, Mosley underwent an MRI and did not suffer any ligament damage. The injury isn’t expected to be long term.

Assuming the diagnosis holds true, the Ravens dodged a major bullet. Mosley is one of the unquestioned leaders of the defense and a top-5 middle linebacker in the NFL. Any extended loss this season would have been a major blow to the entire unit.

Kenny Young replaced Mosley alongside Patrick Onwuasor and finished with seven total tackles on the night.

After a short week, the Ravens have an extended break before a September 23rd matchup against the Denver Broncos in Week 3 and a return by then was left in question from Harbaugh.

For the sake of the Ravens, they’ll hope Mosley returns back ASAP.
