Wide receiver John Brown had a great day of practice today, linking up with quarterback Joe Flacco on four passes. Two of the passes were for touchdown grabs, and Brown ran crisp routes. Brown showed a lot of bursts, beating cornerback Marlon Humphrey on multiple occasions on comeback and corner routes.

Other wideouts who also had a big day included DeVier Posey, Breshad Perriman, Jordan Lasley and Tim White. Posey, Lasley and White caught multiple passes from Flacco, Lamar Jackson and Robert Griffin III. Flacco seems to have a better rapport with veteran receivers and due to Posey being a three-year NFL veteran and having a successful run in the CFL.

Rookie tight end Hayden Hurst practiced for the second consecutive day and made his mark. He made two solid grabs across the middle for a first down. Maxx Williams and Nick Boyle both made strides in the passing game, being split out at multiple positions and making physical catches against corners, safeties and linebackers. Both have the potential to make big contributions with the other tight ends having injury issues.

Baltimore ran more of the run-pass option with the club introducing more the triple option into the offense. The triple option was being run primarily by Jackson and Griffin with Jackson excelling the most on the run on Thursday. Griffin was able to utilize the option more in the passing game. Flacco also was involved in running the offense, but in short spurts.

Notes:

Missing practice today was tight end Mark Andrews, offensive tackle Greg Senat, defensive back Bennett Jackson and defensive tackle Brandon Williams. Wide receiver Quincy Adeboyejo, offensive guard Marshal Yanda, cornerback Jaylen Hill and linebacker Bam Bradley are still on the PUP list.

Running back Kenneth Dixon left practice today with a hamstring injury, although it didn’t look too serious.

Flacco hasn’t shown any signs of slowing up. He has ditched the knee brace for the 2018 season and has moved much better.

Perriman showed his improved hands and route running on the day. The fourth-year wideout is battling for a roster spot and has made multiple diving catches and made plays up top with 50/50 balls.

Offensive tackles Ronnie Stanley and Orlando Brown Jr. swapped positions at left and right tackle occasionally. Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg, defensive coordinator Don “Wink” Martindale, special teams coordinator Jerry Rosburg and head coach John Harbaugh have stressed the importance of versatility all throughout camp, and it showed the most today.
