After France clinched a final berth in Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Belgium, their opponent has just been determined.

The Croatian men’s soccer team shocked the world as they defeated England 2-1.

Croatia became the second smallest country to ever reach the Fifa World Cup Final, the smallest being Uruguay in 1950. The win Wednesday afternoon was the third straight game won in extra time.

England established their presence early in the match, as Kieran Trippier scored in the 5th minute.

England dominated in the first half as the score remained 1-0 at halftime.

In the 68th minute, Croatia countered with a goal of their own. Ivan Perisic drilled the equalizer to tie up the game and set up a chaotic finish.

Perisic brought his best performance when his team needed it the most, as he finished with a goal and an assist.

The match went the distance as both teams’ extraordinary defense kept the score at 1-1. In extra time, it wasn’t until the 109th minute when Mario Mandzukic pushed Croatia ahead with a 2-1 lead.

The English were without a player down the stretch as Trippier was carted off in the late minutes of the match. Instead of being able to fully attack, having one players less was all Croatia needed to hold off the English.

The World Cup Championship is set for Croatia against France. While the big name for Croatia is Luka Modric, they will have a tough task against a French team led by Mbappé and Antoine Griezmann.

The Fifa World Cup will take place Sunday morning at 11 am in Russia.
