The Ravens experienced a terrible day Tuesday as they lost an additional two defensive starters in free agency, as CJ Mosley and Za'Darius Smith found new homes. In the days leading up, two staples of the defense also signed new contracts as Eric Weddle and Terrell Suggs moved out west.

As bad as it was, the Ravens finally can embrace some good news.

The Ravens filled the void Weddle left behind with a sensational player in Thomas.

Thomas, 29, is a six-time Pro Bowler and a Super Bowl champion. In 2017, Thomas earned second-team All Pro honors for the third time in his career.

Thomas suffered an injury-riddled 2018 campaign, as he fractured his leg in Week 4 while playing on a franchise tag. Nevertheless, he secured three interceptions, five pass defenses, and 22 total tackles in just four games.

Pairing Thomas with fellow safety Tony Jefferson should prove dividends for Baltimore, as their defense has now added veteran leadership that was lost with Suggs signing with Arizona.

Surely Thomas' injury is concerning. Reports coming from his camp claim he'll be ready for the 2019 season.

The Ravens will need Thomas to return back to form, as the division added another star receiver in Odell Beckham Jr. The Browns traded for Odell Beckham Jr. in exchange for a 1st-round pick, a 3rd-round pick, and safety Jabrill Peppers.
