The Baltimore Ravens came into Charlotte on Sunday afternoon and were served up like Carolina barbeque.

One week following a heartbreaking 24-23 loss to the New Orleans Saints in a game the Ravens certainly could have won, they looked like a completely different team against the Panthers and were pummeled 36-21 on the road.

The Ravens came out on the opening drive and looked like the better team. Despite penalties on Marshal Yanda, Buck Allen, and Joe Flacco, the offense marched 75 plays on 11 drives – capped off by a 14-yard rushing touchdown from Alex Collins.

A 7-0 lead gave Baltimore the momentum, but it quickly slipped away.

Over the next two quarters, the Ravens’ next four drives would result in a punt, fumble, punt, and interception.

Christian McCaffrey totaled two touchdowns, one off a tipped pass by Eric Weddle and Greg Olsen added an 11-yard reception in the end zone.

Graham Gano’s 54-yard field goal gave the Panthers a 24-7 halftime lead and the Ravens couldn’t recover.

The No. 1 ranked defense heading into Sunday looked far from it.

They allowed 388 total yards, including 156 on the ground by way of McCaffrey and Newton. D.J. Moore and Greg Olsen provided damage through the air as the middle of the field was wide open for the Panthers throughout the entirety of the four quarters.

The former Terp finished with five catches for 90 yards on the day.

Joe Flacco connected with Buck Allen for a 9-yard touchdown late in the third quarter, bringing the Ravens within 13 points. The score provided a spark for a comeback but Cam Newton's 12-yard naked bootleg touchdown capped off the ensuing drive – putting the game to rest.

Fingers can be pointed across the board and the Ravens drop to 4-4 on the season. They’ll head back home for a crucial AFC North matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

And needless to say, Week 9 will be a make or break game.
